Designed specifically for DTV translator operators and community broadcasters, the new Innovator CX is available at power levels up to 50W ATSC in a single, compact 5 1/4" rack-mount package and up to 350W ATSC with an available external amplifier module. The Innovator CX can be configured as an ATSC transmitter, a regenerative translator or a heterodyne translator. The Innovator CX offers many of the same features found in our higher power transmitters, such as Axcera's broadcast quality ATSC modulator with digital linear and non-linear precorrection, a frequency agile exciter, broadband amplifiers and even an available SNMP/Web browser interface. The regenerative translator version adds a digital receiver that downconverts an off-air ATSC signal which in turn feeds the ATSC modulator and then re-broadcasts on the desired channel, maintaining excellent SNR performance. For applications that do not require the highest SNR levels, Innovator CX translators are also available in simple RF-IF-RF (heterodyne) translator and on-channel booster configurations.

The new DR8A-R is a broadcast quality ATSC receiver/modulator designed to convert nearly any analog translator or transmitter into a regenerative DTV translator. The DR8A-R incorporates the most advanced ATSC receiver technology, using input signal equalization that recognizes and corrects for both leading and lagging multi-path interference, even if the interference is equal in level to the desired receive signal! This greatly simplifies system setup and ensures robust performance even in weak signal areas or when high levels of multi-path are present. An internally generated test signal is also provided, allowing for system setup and testing even when an off-air input signal is not available. Standard linear and non-linear digital pre-correction compensates for distortions in both the output amplifier and the mask filter, ensuring excellent overall translator system performance and optimal signal coverage.
